Description
Watanabe Genjitsuna was known for confronting the famous demon that lived at Rashomon gate. He travelled to the gate, placed a sign to ward off malevolent spirits, and waited. When the demon emerged, announced by a peal of thunder, Watanabe struck out with his sword and severed the demon’s arm. Here he is shown galloping to the gate in a torrential downpour. He is fully armoured, a look of determination on his face and the sign in his hands.
